Welcome to the BURACS Website

BURACS is a CAMRA-affliated society committed to promoting real ales and ciders across Bradford. Founded in 2002 we are a student group designed to support Bradford CAMRA in their campaign to protect the great British tradition of Real Ale.

Activities with us are predictably booze-based including brewery trips, pub crawls and beer festivals. It is a brilliant opportunity to meet people who know their Pilsners from their Porters and learn a bit more about the different styles of beer, and discover new styles to enjoy. With the current president an experienced Home-brewer, there’s even a chance to learn how to make your own alcohol on a budget!

Meetings

We meet regularly every Monday in the Sports Bar at 7pm then move on to a selection of the Real Ale pubs in Bradford. These days and times may change for special occasions and events.

On Saturdays we hold a variety of events including Brewery Tours, Beer Festivals, Pub Crawls, Tasting Sessions and Home Brewing Seminars.

Our Next Main Event

An introductory crawl around just a selection of Bradford's wide variety of city centre pubs, starting in the Union itself before heading on a circuit around the city centre. We will be visiting: The Sir Titus Salt, a Wetherspoons with a wide, if often unadventurous selection. From there we will head to The Shoulder of Mutton, a Bradford institution and also the cheapest ale in the city. We then head out onto North Parade, Bradford's craft beer hub, and visit the one that started it all, The Sparrow, winner of many awards despite being a relative newcomer. We then turn and head for home stopping in at The Castle, a great pub with frequent live music (mostly open mikes and folk) and a wide variety of (mostly Marston's) ales. Our final stop is Delius Lived Next Door, another great music venue but one with a more student oriented line-up. Last Orders at our final stop is at 12.30.
